The end of Detroit Diesel Two-Stroke support?
Fellow Busnut, “Buswarrior,” today posted:

“DaimlerChrysler announced this morning that they will end support for the older Detroit Diesel 2-stroke engines late this year.In the brief news release, the company cites environmental concerns about the older product lines and lower sales volumes.
Analysts point out that Greenpeace supporters and other like minded individuals have been acquiring share volume at DaimlerChrysler in an attempt to influence the company from within. It would appear that they have had some success in setting a more environmentally friendly corporate agenda.Sales figures for the support of the Detroit Diesel product line, which dates back to the late 1930’s, were not immediately available.”
Darn…
A sad day that will be remembered bitterly by those who appreciate the staying power of good old fashioned engineering excellence.
To which someone else said,
Ummm….do you know what this is???

Two stroke all the way, baby!
It’s a joke! An April Fools Joke, ok?!
I have met the head of DD’s 2-stroke fulfillment who said something like, “Two Stroke? We’ll be making parts for them and supporting them for decades - long after you’re gone.” when I asked him this recently.
